BACKGROUND: BORNE DANCE COMPANY
Borne Dance Company is a team of mental health advocates, trauma survivors, and artists who believe art is an essential tool in any healing process. Art is an important form of expression that allows us to access the intimate parts of ourselves we often don’t visit on a daily basis. Borne Dance Company's mission is to help others experience the catharsis that artistic expression can inspire. Our peer-driven workshops provide participants with the opportunity to explore multiple art forms, inspiring the ideas of healing through art, self-appreciation, and body positivity. Drawing on our our own personal experiences and research, Borne designed a workshop that explicitly breaks down these expectations, enabling participants to partake in movement exercises rooted in expression rather than weight, loss, or body image.
ABOUT THE EVENT
On December 16th, IDHA is hosting a workshop that explore a variety of art forms including movement, writing, and visual art in a safe and non judgmental environment. We will be joined by the Borne Dance Company team for an evening of ice breaker games, simple and creative movement exercises, mindful writing, and art collage. The workshop is designed to allow each participant to explore art and creativity in a new light, while simultaneously inspiring positivity and self-appreciation. Join us for the unique opportunity to access your inner child through art, dance, and play.
This event is open to all people, including people with lived experience, family members, activists, allies, and psychiatrists or other mental health providers. No prior movement or artistic experience is necessary for this event and no one will be turned away from participating.
